Smarties borrowed a book from the library that lists out loads of interesting Science experiments that we can do from home. So here we are, trying out the vinegar launcher experiment on their own. Smarties followed the instructions in the book and gathered all the materials required for the experiment.
Ingredients required are really simple and can easily be found at home:
– sponge launcher or any wine cork
– baking soda
– empty bottler
– vinegar
See! It’s that simple! You may decorate your launcher if required. Gor gor pasted some paper around the launcher so that it looks nice if it flies up.
Now let’s start! Here are the steps:
– pour the vinegar into the empty bottle
– filled up the launcher with baking soda or placed the baking soda in a tissue paper as how the book has shown
– place the launcher at the opening of the bottle, or slowly place the baking soda wrapped with tissue into the water and quickly cover the mouth of the bottle with the wine cork
– wait for the launcher to shoot!
We tried a few times, but our launcher didn’t react as vigorously as shown in the book. It wasn’t a very successful experiment but smarties are not giving up on it. They continue to find out and make changes to the steps given above and changes the amount of vinegar and baking soda required in order to make it work. Smarties definitely had a fun time trying it out and to experiment it in their own way. Β They have even tried the baking soda in tissue as well.
No problem if they have finished up my box of baking soda and my bottle of my vinegar. It is great to see them learning the process of finding out what the problems are and trying out different ways to solve it. Definitely an amazing experience for them. To me, as a parent, is not the result that matters but the process of it.
Here’s our short video on how it went!
Oh the fun times we used to have with vinegar and baking soda, there are loads more on the net your kids can try too! Looks like they had fun π
Yes, they love playing with baking soda and vinegar. Is great to know that we can experiment so much with just 2 simple ingredients π
Yes, going to check out for more experiments to try. Thanks for the heads up!
We buy this from the store so this is awesome to be able to make it at home. More fun, too!
Yes, luckily the ingredients not that expensive otherwise I can’t imagine if they want to do it again and again…hahaa
Such a fun experiment!!! I’ve done this with my boys and they loved it!!
