I had a P4 student who scored around the 50 to 60 mark range for entire P4…
He had low self confidence in his science grades…
He was very “lazy”, and didn’t want to learn about science… “don’t know what’s going on”… hates science in general…
He came for lessons with me at the start of September
And took his final exam at the end of October and scored 87 marks…
In addition, he also received a Good Progress Award from school…
But… most impressive of all isn’t 87 marks
Because according to his brother, “he is now very interested in Science…”

I DON’T FOCUS ON MEMORISING KEYWORDS
USE A LOT OF WHAT WE ENCOUNTER IN DAILY LIFE TO EXPLAIN SCIENCE QUESTIONS THAT CHILDREN DON’T UNDERSTAND
TAKE FOR EXAMPLE, EVAPORATION…
“You see.. when your mother boil water – you see steam coming out and the cover having water droplets…” So they see and visualise
I make them do experiments as well
I GET THEM TO DO OFFLINE HAND-ON EXPERIMENTS THAT THEY CAN DO AT HOME TO LEARN
TAKE DOWN NOTES FOR EVERY CLASS AFTER THE CLASS ENDS

- Develop interest in science so they naturally want to learn without having to push them and nag at them
- Don’t feel stressful while learning because of their natural interest for it
- They will request for more classes and look forward to every class

Students teach among students – share what they know – to reflect and recall… learning with the intention to teach is the fastest way to learn
On the spot reflections before the class end to repeat learning…
Other online classes only has 1 way communication… teacher to students… no student to student… and this is not optimal for learning…

Typical complains are my child cannot focus on online classes… they may be doing online learning but they may be checking out their phones or doing something else
I usually ask them questions constantly throughout the entire class to keep them engaged and encouraged interaction with classmates so they cannot be distracted by anything else
Also, it helps that my very interesting science classes that are very relatable and visual – engages them

HOW DOES THE ONLINE TRIAL CLASS WORK?
There’s 3 segments and it takes about 60 mins in total
Segment 1: your child will do an trial assessment. so I can assess his/her current standards
Segment 2: we will review the trial assessment and I’ll teach what they do not know
Segment 3: you’ll attend the assessment review where I’ll reveal how your child can improve moving forward.
If your child likes me and connect with me during the trial.
And if i would love to work with your child.
Then let’s proceed to process your child’s enrolment.
